Do you give your baby vitamin drops?

I don't, but should I? My dd is 12months and the weaning process is going pretty well (eats just about anything - which is good when it's broccolli but not so good when it's paper or dirt...) but should I be supplementing with vitamins? Wondering what most mums are doing...

It wouldn't even occur to me tbh! I'm a firm believer that everything we, and our children, need nutritionally can be had through a balanced diet. Although if anyone has evidence to the contrary, I'd be very open to hearing it!

I'm not sure the mouthful of soap ds2 (11 months) had yesterday counts tho !

My DD had vitamin drops up to being 12 months, but only because she wsa premature. I stopped at 12 months as that was what the DR advised me to do.
If your Dd eats her veg/fruit etc I really don't see the need IMO.
Personally it wont do any harm to give them anyway & may prevent colds etc.

I had a row with my HV when she told me I "had to give dd vitamin drops now she's 12 months old".

All she kept repeating was that once dd was on cow's milk, she needed vitamins because cow's milk wasn't as high in nutrients as breast or formula milk.

Not once did she ask me what dd's diet was like.

I explained (rather forcefully) that dd ate a wide and varied diet and I thought it was unprofessional of her to be instructing all parents to give vitamin drops without having a full picture of their nutrition.

Her response......

"Well, that's what we've been told to do".
