When to go from bottle to sippy cup

MY son still has a bottle of milk at night when he goes to bed, should i be getting him to have his milk in a sippy cup instead. He can and does use a sippy cup during the day. but is the bottle a comfort thing. advice please

How old is he? I dropped all bottles at one, with no effect on sleeping, but equally I have friends with 2 and 3 year olds who still have bottles in their cots/beds and they seem perfectly fine too - no buck or decaying teeth or whatever the reason is. I would just go with your instinct - if you think he really needs it then you know best. I dont see a problem with children having something that comforts them, especially if they are still quite young.

I let my DD (13 months) have her bottle at night still. She nearly always falls asleep in my arms drinking so I'm happy to keep it going as it's all about comfy bedtime routine and I don't see the need to change it on her until she changes it on me iykwim.

my son is 18months, i have every once and while put him to bed with his milk in a sippy cup and it hasnt effected his sleeping, that much. No one i know gives their same age babies milk in bottles at night or even any milk at night. he does have a solid bedtime routine and we have always stuck to it and the whole routine includes his bottle.

18 months seems fine - in my vast opinion . Honestly, I know loads of 2 and 3 year olds who still have milk out of bottles, some older siblings resolutely refusing to give them up while the younger still has them. I always am a little suspicious of people who say their children never have milk in bed etc, as I have seen the other side of the coin when babysitting!!

My ds is 27 months old and still has hi bottle for bed. i don't think it is a problem. it is the only comfort thing he has. he's not attache to any blankets etc

i tried to change my ds over from a bottle to a cup at 10 months but he was having none of it, i tried again after his 1st birthday and he was happier then and took his milk fine. i'd read that them having a bottle after they are 1 can affect their speech, which worried me, however my mates 3 yo still has a bottle and her speech has always been exceptionally good, so i'm sure thats a load of rubbish mad up by hv's!

My older child still had a bottle at 3 & was rather difficult to get him out of it, so I didnt want to do it again with the 2nd.
She had the advent bottles, so I change to the sipping teats at around 14 months.
My DD is nearly 4 & goes to bed with milk still but in a cup.

Ds bottles stopped at around 13mths and changed to a cup.He was very very dependant on the bottles so wanted to stop them while he was too young to get overly upset. DD1 is 13mths now and will quite happily use either so am happy for her to use either.

Ds stopped his bottles with milk in during the day at around 12 months. He still had bottle for milk at bedtime until 15 months.
He never took bottle to bed, but he liked a cuddle with bottle.
We stopped it by changing to the cup just like day time, I was so scared to change it - he didn't notice!

My niece would take a bottle to bed up until 2.4, my sister threw the bottles in the bin and went cold turkey. They had a 'bye bye bottle' thing together! For about a week there were a lot of tears, but she now drinks from a cup.
