Weaning prem babies

Dd is now five months and we have advised to wean for a number of reasons. (This is from hv and a paediatrician) I really don't want this thread to become a 'don't wean her now thread' just for a disclaimer. I know the risks and I'm the parent I just want some advice.

I have been giving her a little bit of baby rice mixed with her formula and pear purée to start with after her evening milk bottle. She takes maybe four to five spoonfuls. But where do I go next? I was thinking of carrot purée etc

Pear purée is fine. If you are unsure, you could try giving her a purée in the morning, that way if she reacts you (hopefully) won't be up all night.

Mumsnet have some great recipes for weaning. Banana-Cado is excellent. Smile

Have you read this on weaning a premature baby?. I've heard it is useful.

Our prem baby was weaned at similar age to yours again on hv advise. Dd had porridge and we did some Blw with her so she would have mango, cucumber, strawberries etc to munch on.
