Have I hurt DD by starting weaning too early?

DD is 5 months. Up until now she has been entirely breastfed. Last week I decided to start solids. I know the advice is not to wean until 6 months BUT I did have my reasons: DD is big for her age, she was hungry all the time, she was waking more at nights and I was exhausted, she was obsessed with me eating, she will not take a bottle or beaker and I was desperate for a way of feeding her that would enable me to leave her with her dad for a few hours. I might sound like a bad mum but I thought these reasons were good. HOWEVER maybe I was wrong.

At first DD loved what I gave her - pureed parsnip and sweet potato mixed with a little baby rice. I was just giving her one meal a day and she was grabbing the spoon and shoving it in. But then after 8 days of just dinner I gave her pureed fruit for breakfast yesterday. By 4pm yesterday my normally happy, smiley baby was writhing in pain with farts. Since then she seems incapable of bf-ing without getting upset and seems to have wind that I cannot get up. All day today she will not be put down and gets moments where she goes dark red and cries. She is not consitpated (she has pooed 3 times since the fruit). Do you think I have hurt her with the fruit? Should I stop solids altogether for another month even though she loved the veg and was sleeping better? Or should I continue with veg only?

It does say something about being made in a place where gluten is. (I know that is really bad grammar, but you get the drift!)

I have a 4.5 month old son and i just started weaning him in the last couple of weeks.

I only give him a little solid on his second meal of the day, either pureed fruit or Veg and its in the middle of his milk feed as per the advice in the weaning book i have

He gets 100ml of milk, his food, then the other 120ml of milk and it seems to be working, after two weeks you do the same with an afternoon feed.. we'll see how that goes, lol.

I really wouldnt worry too much. The only thing may be to avoid the citrus fruits and stick with Banana, pear..etc and also offer them a little water once a day to avoid constipation.
