Sitting up/weaning (another BLW question...)

Have been looking around at the BLW stuff on the net and it all says that babies should be able to sit up unaided before you should consider them ready for solids... stupid question but what did you BLWers take that to mean? DS is 23 weeks and can sit for short periods but will still topple over at the drop of a hat. He is very interested in our food and can certainly grab toys and stuff them in his mouth, and has suddenly got incredibly hungry (am bfing). But should I offer him something now or does all this actually not mean he's ready and I should still wait till 26 weeks, or till he's sitting much better?

wait til 26 weeks see how he is then. no point doing it early really.

Good question,my dd is 24 weeks and am weaning her end of January hopefully. If shes not sitting alone do i delay weaning till she can? Or do i start with spoon feeding and do BLW when she is sitting?

Thanks

Babies should be able to sit for any type of weaning agalch.

I would try and wait til 6 months 2labs - he'll prob be sitting quite well by then.

it's one of the more important signs, i'd say, just because (i think anyway) you've got to be more likely to choke (on puree or finger food) if you can't support yourself. thing is, if you're going to do BLW you start at six months... you put the food in front of the child and you see what happens. wait and see what happens at 6 months is therefore my advice. no point in doing spoonfeeding and BLW, the two things don't co-exist, conceptually at least.

ok, thank you - I will hang on till then.
