2 weeks into weaning 6m dd (breast fed) not doing blw due to allergic colitis and having to take it slowly on medical advice. she's doing really well. BF usually 7, 10, 2, 5, 7, 10.30, 2-3ish. Started with "lunch" at 11.30 - baby rice and now a bit of banana and just introduced breakfast y'day at 8 - banana. Y'day she had half a banana at 8 , had her usual nap at 9 for 30min and then had to go back to bed 30 min later for an hour and a half which she never does! DH gave her 3/4 banana today at 8 and the same thing has happened. Needless to say she didn't want her 10 am feed! Will eating/digesting make her tired? Are we giving her too much? She seems really happy to eat.

banana is very starchy - maybe it is filling your lo up and making her feel sleepy (like you might be after a filling sunday roast!!).

do you think she should be having less than i'm giving her at the moment - she has already dropped 1 daytime feed. she's hving half a banana for breakfast, then 4 tsp baby rice with 2 oz milk and either the other half banana or other fruit/veg (which she's not as keen on at the mo)at lunch. am planning to start teatime feeding next week.
