I'm mixing BF and FF at the moment and also have just started weaning DD.... But I'm not sure if she's having too many milk feeds or when I can start giving her meat and fish purees or fromage frais. She's been having fruit and veg purees which are going down well, I'm getting a bit confused and am wondering whether I just need to give her FF to get into a better routine? Help!

Hi,

I mixed fed my DD and then moved to formula at 6 months. I have to say FF is easier as you give feeds at set times etc whereas bf is harder to know if they just wanted it as a drink or as a feed iyswim.
Anyway for the 1st month of weaning I always offered milk first as milk is higher in calories than first foods.
Our routine went like this
breakfast- milk/porridge
snack-milk
dinner- meal and dessert
snack-milk
tea- meal and fruit
bedtime - milk.
After about 6 1/2 months I then gave meals seperate and milk was used as a snack inbetween. diary, meat and fish is not advised until after 6 months
