Gagging 10 month old suddenly

Hi, I need some urgent help.

My 10 month old has suddenly started gagging when eating. It was just once or twice but over the week it's become gradually worse to every mouthful. I spoon feed him mashed meals but have gone back to sloppy and pureed meals. It's so bad he's barely had any dinner and so has boobed a lot, almost like cluster feeding, to sleep tonight.

Last week he bashed the roof of his mouth quite hard with his toothbrush by accident and I can't remember if it started before or after this but it was around that time. I can't see any injury in his mouth.

I can't decide if it's reflux as he's also gagging after meals at times.

Have you tried letting him feed himself? Mine would gag every mouthful if I attempted spoon feeding so I let her control everything. She doesn't eat much but she's learning

When I try this he jams everything in at once and chokes himself. Poor child.
