How can I avoid this please? DS hates the stuff on it's own but I do mix it with pear and courgette to bulk them up.

dont use it. Its minging. Pear and courgette fine on its own.

Courgette utterly uterly disgusting, and when cooked it looks just like snot.

QV - Thanks! Thing is, it seems to help him not be sick so much which is great. So whilst I agree that on it's own it's minging, I would like to keep using it as a mixer so I'd still like to know how not to have lumps!

Colditz - we did courgette today for the first time. I mixed it with some baby rice and a bit of formula milk. I tried a bit and it was really quite nice! Like cream of courgette soup, not that I've ever come across that. DS liked it too!

You're putting the water in all at once - make a dip in the middle and add a bit at a time.
But it is disgusting - neither of mine would touch it once they'd had something more interesting!

how old is your dc? dd loves courgette. she's 7 months, has it chopped up like chips then fried in a teeny bit of olive oil.

13 and 11 so a long time since they had baby rice!

Try mixing in formula or liquid from say the pear juice or courgette water before adding the veg. Add little at a time if you add too little liquid it does go lumpy.
I find its still great when dd has upset tummy mixed with a bit of apple or pear

So just like a white sauce then. Why didn't I think of that - duh! Oh my LO is 5 months btw . Very good reasons for weaning early, taking it very very slowly and DS loving it. Thanks people.
