Lunch ideas

My 6 and a half month old ds is being brought uo vegetarian to begin with. Up until now he loved his steamed vegies for lunch and dinner. I started gluten and dairy a couple of weeks ago and give him weetabix with full fat milk and fruit for breakfast and rice/lentils/etc with natural yughurt for dinner. But, now he refuses to eat just steamed vegies. He still loves his fruit and has really got into yoghurt.

What can I give him for lunch?? Any ideas?? I tried a cheese sandwich today and he seemed to like that. He also like cauliflower and broccoli with cheese - so cauliflower-cheese. Last week i also tried giving him pasta with courgette and chedder cheese. I really don't want to give him the same food everyday.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated

Soup and squares of pitta are good...messy but good. My DS likes a bit of cheese melted in the pitta too.

Do you break these up and feed them or let them try feeding themselves now??

I didn't think he was allowed egg yet..

the egg advice is due to under 5s being prone to egg allergies. something to do with the size of the protein i think. some kids have it then get to age 5 and don't have it.

i myself do give dd egg, of course making sure it's cooked through. i wouldn't give her a soft egg or an undercooked omellette. she hasn't had a reaction so far. i've balanced it in my mind as it's an important source of protein, we don't eat meat.

we're doing blw, so dd gets as much as she wants really, she stops eating when she's had enough. she's 7 months now so just has food as it comes, not much extra chopping. i'd cut a loaded potato skin in half maybe.

If she liked the cheese sandwiches, what about other sandwich fillings? Hummus? Veggie paté? Marmite? Philadelphia?

What do you normally eat for lunch, as the easiest way to do it is to give him a bit of whatever you're having...
