fussy eater - 1 year old

My one year old lo is starting to get very fussy at tea time, for the past 2-3 days he has refused most of his tea except for pieces of cheese. He normally has some finger foods to pick at (cheese/toast/fruit/little pieces of pizza etc), but if he hasn't eaten much of this I will usually offer him a jar or something homemade that I can feed him with a spoon as well. He now starts to cry when all his cheese has gone a refuses anything else. If I don't give him any cheese at all he will cry until he gets some!!! He either has a 2 hour sleep at lunchtime or an hour 10-11ish and 3-4ish so he isn't too tired, he also has is lunch around 11.45 (earlier if he is having his nap after lunch) so he must be hungry. He has a bottle (4oz at the most at 2pm) but he is starting to phase this out. This sounds trivial as I'm writing it down, but it's a long time from tea time til breakfast the next morning with only a bottle before he goes to bed so any ideas/advice would be gratefully received!

do you eat your tea when he eats his tea? what do you have? have you tried just giving him what you're having and let him feed himself?

I usually have my tea later with my dh when my lo is in bed; he doesn't usually get in from work until around 6ish which would be too late for us all to eat together - I will have something with him tomorrow though to see if it makes any difference - thanks for the suggestion.
