wakes at about 7 ish and has 7oz milk. about 7.45 porridge
10.30/11 biscuit and juice
1ish pureed fruit/yogurt
4.30 7oz m,ilk
5.30 pureed veg/meat/pasta/yogurt
7.30 7oz milk and then bed

She was having 4 milks per day but hv at clinic said to drop 1 as dd had gone fron 75th centile to 98th in a month

dd always finishes everything - she'll sometimes have bits from my tea as she sits at the table with us (me dh ans ds) or sometimes some toastie soldier - she always seems hungry is this right or am i feeding her too much?? what else can i give for snacks, ds was\5 years ago and i can't seem to remember what i did

sounds great, wouldn't worry too much about what hv says, do what you thinks right you know your baby best. It is amazing how quickly they shoot up and down the centiles.

My ds is 9 months and he is now on 3 milk feeds
7.30 up and milk
8am weetabix with whole milk with banana/apple or porridge.

12.30 main meal (try to give some protein ie cheese or meat) plus fruit puree and yoghurt if still hungry.

2.30 milk

5.30 veg/pasta meal and fruit puree or yoghurt or some other pudding

7.30 milk and bed.

I think he eats slightly more than at 7 months but he dropped the morning feed about 6 months and I only stopped his dream feed (11pm) about 2 months ago.

Sorry not much advice, don't worry too much
she sounds like she is thriving, you are doing a great job.

i'm sooooooo glad i don't get dd weighed, it seems to be such a source of worry. If you're looking for finger food ideas you could look at my blog thing here
it's mainly about BLW but there's a big section on finger food generally.
to me you sound like you are doing absolutely fine, and from observing DD i'd say that her weight has gone up and down but as long as she's not ill i don't go anywhere near HVs or doctors. hth

thanks aitch - some great ideas there - i generally spoon feed but always give some of my tea (before seaoning) so dd can feed herself

just WAIT til you see her eating goose at christmas...

DS went from the 75th to the 91st at 7 months too but when I got him weighed at 8 months he'd only put on 4oz and was back at the 75th. My HV just said he must have had a growth spurt and I continued with the same food, milk etc. I would just keep on with what you're doing

My seven month old has started waking during the night again . I've wondered about changing his milk. He's on Cow and Gate Premium for (stage 1). Does anyone know the benefits of the one with added iron , now that he is being weaned?

I am struggling to get enough milk into him during the day, now that he's on three meals but he is eating his solids well and he's putting on wait like you wouldn't believe.

His routine is:
8ish breakfast and milk (often takes less than 180ml... but has usually downed 180ml at 3/4am)
12ish lunch with protein and pudding
3ish milk (will sometimes take 180ml but never more)
5.30 tea with protein and pudding
7ish milk and bed (about 240ml)

We stopped doing the dream feed months ago as he seemed to wake once with or without it. I'm reluctant to reintroduce because it seems like a backward step. Any ideas?

imo there is nothing wrong with a dream feed if baby is going to bed round 7.30 to 7.30 am, and you feed round 11/12. if that guarantees a good night sleep or a settled pattern then why fight it?
my ds was feed in the night til 8 mths , always went to bed sat 7pm and slept v well.

deaconblue · 02/01/2007 10:30

We don't do a dream feed as it gives ds gut ache, but are still on 4 bottles a day in order to get 20-24 oz down him. He seems to sleep through if he's had that much and wake up if not. It might just be teeth waking your baby rather than hunger though??

rhw · 02/01/2007 16:26

Thanks for the ideas, we did a dream feed last night and he slept until gone 7 this am. Result! Let's see what happens tonight. I'm still struggling to get him to take the required amount of milk though (about 100ml with breakfast, including cereal - even though I delayed until 8am)he did eat lunch and 3pm bottle well though.
I think his teeth are bothering him too, but he always settles really well and quickly if he is given a bottle when he wakes.

Has anyone tried the next stage milk?
