Milk supply never ending! help!

Hi all,
I am sorry but I am certain this is in the wrong place but when I search breastfeeding nothing comes up.
I am a first time Mumma and breastfed my DS until a week before his first birthday. Meaning he last fed at the end of October 2015. I have come on to ask you ladies if I should be worried that I still have milk there. I am not engorged or in pain or leaking any significant amount. Its just there!
I saw the Doc mid November and he said its normal fpr a supply to stick around for 2yrs after feeding but this idea doesn't sit well. What do you girls think, do you think I should go back?

Any help is appreciated, I am normally just a reader of mumsnet posts but had to join as cant seem to find any info or reassurance anywhere

Normal, I'd say. I would doubt a GP would know, tbh. Phone a bf helpline? I always find the LLL one excellent.

I still had milk there for about 2/3 years after feeding to age 2 so I wouldn't worry.

I still have milk on one side and I stopped nursing 2 years ago. Pregnant again so it may never leave!

Bizarre isn't it. I have friends who bottle fed and lost their supply in days. At least I know I am not alone! Thanks ladies x

If you stop bf in the early weeks, your supply will usually dry up pretty quickly. That might have been the case for your friends.

However, if you stop bfing after 12 months, when your supply is so well established that it's virtually bombproof, the milk tends to hang around for a long time. You might be able to express some milk for months, though it gets harder. And even when you can't express anything, there still might be milk in the ducts that would show up if you had a scan, etc.
