mango?

can I give my 6 m/o DS mango? I'm a bit of a slave to weaning books and they've confused me... Anabel Karmel mentions mangoes in passing but doesn't say when to give them, but Dr Sears says no mango til 12 months. Am thinking they'd be ok if pureed? We've been weaning for 2 weeks and so far DS has had banans, sweet potato, swede, carrot, avocado, pear and apple...

My first dd had mango at about 6-7 months, but if I remember correctly, she ate rather a lot of it and either had diarrhea, or vomited it up. She absoluetly loves all fruit (in stark contrast to dd2!).

I don't see any harm in giving your ds a little bit of mango, but not too much all in one go like we did.

DD is 7months and has had mango three times so far, never had any problems. Very good finger food IMO.
Just try little bit first and see how your LO does.

LO 6.5mo and his absolute favourite thing is mango! It purees very smooth and he will have a serving (about 3 ice cubes) maybe every 3 days and we've never had a reaction.

DS (7 months) likes dried mango from Oxfam (it's Fair Trade not second hand ) It comes in big flat pieces and he can suck on it to his hearts content!
