I know that from 6 months and if your lo is having 3 meals a day then the minimum milk should be around 20ounces (500/600mls). As your lo is younger than this and only taking one meal then I would keep giving whatever milk he wants. As he starts to take more solids he will cut back on his milk by himself. Just play it by ear as to when to add more meals - I added dinner next and breakfast last.

DS is 6.5 months. he has four 8oz bottles and 3 meals of solids a day. he has water or diluted juice with meals.

Hi
When we weaned my son he was around 5 months.

We kept up his normal milk quantity ie.
8oz bottle in the morning,
8oz bottle at around 10am,
8oz bottle for lunch,
8oz bottle at around 3pm and
8oz bottle for dinner.

We started weaning with a dinner time puree at around 6pm at night followed by a full bottle before bed.

When he was about 5 and a half months we introduced a breakfast puree. So he'd wake up first thing in the morning and have his 8oz bottle and then about an hour later he'd have his breakfast puree.

Then at 6 months we introduced a lunch time puree followed by a lunch time milk bottle but it was at around this time that we found that we could drop the lunch time bottle because he wasn't so hungry for it after his lunch.

Then after this we just went with the flow a bit and I tried to offer him a snack (like a baby biscuit) at 10am instead of a bottle and he eventually dropped the 10am bottle. Same thing in the afternoon, I'd offer him a banana or something of the sort and eventually we dropped that bottle. So by around 8 months he was only having 2 bottles a day (one first thing in the morning and one last thing at night).

I don't know if what we did was right or wrong, but it worked for us (and we had a VERY hungry baby)

Good luck with the weaning.
