6 Month old gone completely off her milk :-(

Hello all, my dd has completely gone off her milk. We start at around 7.30 with 7oz bottle but she only has 2-3 oz, then at around 9.30ish she has breakfast (homemade fruit puree) then she wont have anything until 12 or 1 and she then only has around 4 oz of milk if that. I then offer her another bottle at around 4ish, she has probably 2-3 oz then she has tea which is a meat with veg dish (homemade) then she will have her evening milk between 7 and 8, which she probably has between 3-5 oz. She was having her solids at 6, but then she wouldnt wake up fo her last feed so i have pulled it all forward a bit. She is on Aptamil Extra, do you think i should put her on the Forward milk?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

No! If she still won't take her milk then try other brands like SMA etc. To ensur her dairy intake, you can also add milk (full fat now she's over 6 months or formula) to her solids. Introduce a cereal with her breakfast, milk in mashed potato, rice pudding. Also fromage frais/yoghurts good source too. Perhaps you could also cut down her portions?

do you mean introduce the cereal in the fruit? Also she loves her solids, i just worry she isnt getting enough vitamins from all the homemade stuff!!

Hi Haily111 we're having exactly the same problem with our just 7 month old - good to hear we're not alone - I started a similar thread earlier today (how many bottles should a 7 month have) the only way we're getting anyway near the 20 oz they are meant to have a day is to put it in his food (cereal/mashed potato/rice pudding with fruit)- the whole milk thing is a real pain!!!! (knew there was a reason I don't like milk!!!!!)

Yes cereal with fruit. ds2 has weetabix/porridge or oatabix with banana and about 1 - 2oz of milk. She'll be getting loads of vitamins from your homecooked foods, don't worry about that. Also homecooked is far more varied in taste than the bland jars so keep up the cooking! Do you steam or boil your veg - steam retains more vitamins.

I know exactly what you are talking about PF!! I find it upsetting as well as frustrating as i never know if i am doing anything right with her feeds...

I boiled this lot. I only read about steaming after i had done a big batch! I have frozen everything as well. Do you by any chance know how long frozen pureed food lasts? I shall try that with adding milk and the breakfast part!
Oh and just whilst we are on the subject do you think i should introduce a third meal? Or will that be too much?

It depends, usually about 4 weeks. If she's not screaming out for food then leave it for a while and see how you go. It's really important that solids don't replace milk in the first year so don't be tempted to feed more solids unless you are introducing things like cheese sauces, yoghurts, etc. Good luck!!

I had this exact same problem and I think I have discovered what caused it ... My little boy went onto Follow on milk by Aptamil about the same time I started weaning as I believed the increase the iron intake propaganda. I changed back to Aptamil 1 last week and he is back to taking 4-6 oz a feed now which is so much more comforting. As long as you are giving meat or lentils etc the iron intake should be fine. See the threads on follow on milk elsewhere for comfort on that!
