So yes, that's my question. I know I've seen some tips here before but can't remember them and can't find them either!

Avoid bananas. Give prunes.

If baby less than 26 weeks old, stop food altogether.

Avoid potatoes, they always bunged mine up.

Oh, forgot to say - she's 7months, so eats pretty much everything.

orange juice (watered) is great for constipation. And raisins work pretty effectively IME. Avoid eggs.

Bit off topic but I've found regular massage has really helped with my twins constipation. There is a section in this book that I've found really helpful.

that's what i was going to suggest, glamourbadger, massage is excellent i think.

pear ?

MiaMamma · 07/12/2006 15:52

Thank you very much for the replies. Poor baby has been struggling for two days now. Oh, MIL was just babysitting for couple of hours and gave DD banana, she ate loads of it (had to rush out earlier, so forgot to mention about constipation)! Back to square one... Now will be feeding her just kiwis and pears until improvement And lots of massage.

Kiwi fruit can be very allergenic so go easy with them.

watered prune juice is actually very gentle!

LucyJu · 07/12/2006 16:00

Bananas always bunged dd1 up. so had to ration them a bit. Ditto cheese.
Other fruit good for "un-blocking" - e.g pear, kiwi, grapes, mango.

Chippyt · 13/12/2006 23:37

Sweetcorn or spinach wil do the job - avoid banana - very diluted orange juice - lots of water to drink - my dd suffers with constipation so am always looking at ways to help her.

DS ate half a dozen dried apricots in town the other day and did 3 of the most massive poos in an hour!!!!!!! He wasn't, to my knowledge constipated, and it would appear, that after that he wasn't!
