My 7 month old doesn't take much milk (formula fed). HV recommended vitamin drops which she takes. I am not sure if weaning is the cause; too much solid food.
She is offered 4 milk feeds a day (6oz bottles) and ALWAYS before solids. Her milk feed routine is roughly this:
7am - 6oz bottle but takes 2-4oz.
11am - 6oz bottle but takes 2-3oz.
3pm - 6oz bottle but takes 1-3oz.
7pm - 6oz bottle but takes 3-5oz.
She has never taken more than 16oz a day for the past 6 weeks.
Weaning is like this:
Breakfast - none. Tried her but she hasn't been interested although yesterday she took a full Ella's Kitchen yoghurt pouch and 2 tiny mouthfuls of ready brek (my breakfast!). none this morning because she took only 2oz of milk and wanted to see if she'll take more milk at 11am (ish).
Lunch midday - 1pm- usually pitta bread, humus, fruit and water (BLW) but recently she has preferred me feeding her a jar of fruit which I prefer to avoid!
Tea 5pm - 6pm - BLW again. Usually whatever we have. Yesterday was a parsnip, 1 carrot baton and a mouthful of mashed potato.
Her stools are very clay-like and she struggles although not distressed by it. We get a little bit of poop every hour!
Sleep is okay (brilliant by many infant standards!). She sleeps 7:30pm til 6am with 2/3 naps a day (usually 1 hour 20 mins in a morning and 2 x 45 minute naps in an afternoon OR 45 mins in a morning and just over 2 hours in the afternoon).
Sometimes I think she is doing okay and then keep thinking the whole 'food is fun til they're one' motto with milk being the main source of nutrition and thus concerned she isn't getting enough milk.
Any ideas?
