Help with fussy 16 month old - anyone got survival stories?!

My DS is just 16 months. He's never been a massive eater (and as he's small - 9th centile - I've never really been concerned) but over the last few months he's basically started to refuse anything that isn't from fromage frais / yogurt, fruit, pasta or cake/biscuits.

I know from reading on MN that this is common behaviour at this age and I am trying to stay calm and just clear away and offer pudding but nothing else but it's so so demoralising especially when other children around him seem to be eating anything and everything! I'm also batting with DH who thinks I shouldn't give DS pudding when he refuses the main, but I think that it's ok but no offering alternative main course.

Has anyone got any stories of surviving this stage to encourage me? Because DS is so small I can't help worrying.

Just as an aside he's just about to walk (I reckon within the next coupl of weeks). This is causing him to be very frustrated so don't know if this is a factor or not?

No advice but watching with interest as I'm in the same boat with my own 16 m/o. Stubborn aren't they? I also struggle to stay calm and not worry because she is on the small side... but full of energy, where does she get it from?!
