My daughter is currently 7 months old and her palate operation has been delayed so she will now be 8.5 months at least before she has it fixed...in the meantime I need to progress her weaning on from fruit and porridge purée (and puréed meals) but am terrified of her choking on anything else, esp finger foods...but don't want her to fall behind on development, please help???

I've no experience of babies with a cleft palate, sorry. Hopefully someone who has will be along soon.

Can I suggest that if you are worried about her choking, you do a Paed first aid course? This might help you to relax and there is just as much chance of her choking on purées.
