Hand blenders - help, which one?

My little blender packed up recently and I'm due to start weaning T sometime after Christmas, so I need to get a new one. But there are sooooo many! Any recommendations? Ones to avoid? I'd quite like one with a bowl attachment to chop nuts etc too, unless they are rubbish...

Thanks in advance.

We have a Braun, and we like it. I think it's packing up now, but we've had it for 5 years now.

I'd recommend getting one with a metal wand, as that way you can use it to blend hot soups in the pot.

You don't have to blend food to wean by the way - baby-led weaning is a lot less work and more fun. There are plenty of threads on it.

We have a much older version of this which has done good service (though we haven't used the whisk bit very much).

We've got the cheapest Braun one; and it was on offer in Tescos. Its fine.

NotQuiteCockney - I'm wondering about the baby-led approach, must read up on it. But I still need a new blender for sauces and stuff, as well if we don't get on with BLW and we resort to purees.

for the funky metal ones, mmmmmmm shiny...

I have the Braun one and would really recommend. I started off using a big blender but small quantities of food just get lost in the bottom.

AitchTwoOh · 25/11/2006 00:57

if you don't need it til after christmas you should wait and see if there are any shiny ones in the sale, maybe?

bottomlessburp · 25/11/2006 01:31

the mother of all hand blenders is the bamix, you will have it for the rest of your life.i cant wait for my cheap plastic one of 12 yrs to break so i can have a bamix!

girlinfrance · 26/11/2006 17:01

Oooh I've seen Bamix ones and wondered if you really get what you pay for (a lot) with them.

Good thought H2O, I'll wait until the sales and get a Bamix if the budget allows, a Braun if it doesn't.

Thanks all.
