i got a free packet of baby mashed potato and it says to make it up with baby's usual milk. does that mean i give it him in place of his bottle, so he doesn't get that as well?cos i have been giving him pureed fruit and veg up to now and then giving him a bottle as well.

a packet of mash?

ledodgychristmasjumper · 20/11/2006 18:02

It just means add formula to it. It's up to yu whether you want to use part of his usual bottle or make some formula up to add to it separately.

Quootiepie · 20/11/2006 18:04

not in place of bottle, but, do normal mash potato I cant imagine whats been done do the poor potato to make it into a packet...

lulumama · 20/11/2006 18:04

no , it is aswell as his milk...just need to reconstitute it with milk
same as the veg & fruit you give are aswell as milk
or

peel a potato, boil, then mash it yourself, if he is over 6 months, with cows milk, if under 6 months, formula/ breast milk..whichever he usually has.

DizzyBint · 20/11/2006 18:04

Baby mashed potato? I have heard it all now.

Is it baby pasta for the new millenium do you think?

GoingQuietlyMad · 20/11/2006 18:30

I got one of those as well, with some kind of free baby pack.

I can't remember if I used it or not, I was a bit freaked out by the similarity to Smash.

I'm sure it's fine as a one-off though.

nappyaddict · 20/11/2006 22:29

i thought it was quite similar to smash as well, but he unexpectedly went from 2 meals a day to wanting 3 today and i hadn't got another out of the freezer.

I recommend Heston Blumenthal style mashed potato for baby - sounds fancy? Much easier than fannying around with steaming etc, just bung baked potato in oven when doing your own and scrape out insides for lo. So much tastier than mashed too.
