Sippy cup assistance

When did your DC's get the hang of sippy cups? DS (11m) holds and drinks from his bottle himself. He will not hold and drink from his free flow sippy cup - only if we put it to his mouth will he sip from it. He has a no spill sippy cup but he just chomps on the teat. He will happily sip from an adult sports bottle if we hold it for him and also from a glass if we hold it - he does try holding the glass but clearly for safety (and messiness) we hold onto it for him. He ends up waterboarding himself with the free flow and sports bottle if we let him hold it and drops it.

Are there any helpful suggestions on how to get him to drink on his own from a sippy cup? Can we just let him have a normal sports bottle or does it have to be a baby one? Any suggestions on alternate products you have had success with?

This is his free flow one and this is his no spill one.

My little one is 7mths he uses a tt free flow and a munchkin 360 with some help.

Nuby sell sports bottle type beakers/bottle for babies/toddler think they are £2 on their website.

I used the same free flow one and so does almost everyone. DD1 got it at 10mo. DD2 is nearly 10mo and not got it yet. Don't worry, keep offering and they will drink from it eventually.

As if by coincidence, put some milk in it for him last night and after he realised he was getting wet by holding it over his face, he soon realised it was milk and to drink from it! It was such a proud moment to watch him taking it to and from his mouth sipping from it

Well done. They change so much at this age don't they?
