I do.

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/11/2006 14:04

Yes you can.

Twiglett · 18/11/2006 14:06

not if you haven't cooked it

Bozza · 18/11/2006 14:06

I would have thought that was unusual chocolatemummy. I think I introduced mince at about 7 months. Started off with chicken and white fish.

ChicPea · 18/11/2006 14:08

I started solids at 6mths not 4mths and at 8mths did dairy and chicken and at 10mths then did meat.

What is the benefit of waiting, with meat? I know eggs can be allergenic.

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/11/2006 14:17

Don't think there's any benefit of waiting with meat. Quite the opposite in fact, as meat is very iron rich, and therefore makes a good first food.

iwouldloveadollypleaseSanta · 18/11/2006 14:59

i think the only benefit of waiting is that some babies find beef a bit too fibrous at that age. i have to say dd didn't like really meaty foods and would only eat chicken (or jar food, sigh) until about 9m old. but now at 10 m she has suddenly gone all crazy about my cottage pie - sigh of relief we eat loads of beef in my house

AitchTwoOh · 18/11/2006 15:34

i think mince, even lumps of it, is quite tricky to eat at first (as a finger food i mean) cos it breaks up too much. dd was eating fist-sized hunks of meat by about 7 months as i recall. she sucked and chewed until only a pale, unnappetising ghost of the thing was left.

iwouldloveadollypleaseSanta · 18/11/2006 15:39

yes aitch one of the things that puts me off my roast dinner is looking at the slice of roast beef i've given dd to suck on...!!

AitchTwoOh · 18/11/2006 18:25

it does look like death on a plate after a good chew, doesn't it? i briefly consider turning vegetarian each time i chuck them out.
