Im really worried about my daughter, she will be 6mths next week and I have just started to feed her solids but she refuses to drink water or juice between feeds, she gets exactly the same number of bottles, will she dehydrate ? I am also concerned as making up my own purees is not working out, they are very slimy and not eatable. Please tell me this gets easier !!! (sad)

what kind of purees have you been making? what do you use to blend them up?

after a month of weaning, DS has his normal amount of bottles plus 2 feeds of solids. he drinks a few sips of water or diluted juice when he eats the solids.

I tried to make potatos and carrots and used a hand blender. any other suggestions ?

it's best to not blend potato. it breaks up the starches and makes it all sticky. i mash it up really well with a fork and push it through a sieve. carrot on it's own should be fine blended.

Why are you blizzing anything?

It does get a lot easier, even after a couple of weeks. Maybe she will take small sips of cool boiled water from a teaspoon? Unsure re dehydration as ds was bf though he did take water also.
Avocado, banana and papaya take no cooking, just seive (I bought a tiny seive for this and was very handy, like a tea strainer) so always handy to have in the fruit bowl. Apples and pears stew really well if you steam them they retain a lot of nutrients. Sweet potato is a good one, and can be blended unlike normal potatoes. Butternut squash too.
