Ds won't use a spoon

Me again. He is 20 months, self-feeds, and I'm hoping that he'll start to use a spoon (so we can all start eating risotto again). He loads the spoon up, laughs, flicks the food off, and loads it again.

We all eat together so he sees me and dd eating with cutlery. And he'll let me feed him yoghurt with a spoon.

Any suggestions? Do I just have to wait?

What about trying him with a fork?!

DD2's a bit like this. Depends what your priorities are really though as at the end of the day there's a part of me that's thinking that as long as they are not behaving really badly then if they are eating their food then that's okay. Everyone ends up using cutlery at some point so I guess you either make an issue of it (if you know what I mean) or just go with it and wait.

He can use a fork to stab things and put them in his mouth. I want him to use a spoon in the hope that he will be willing to eat slightly sloppier food that he won't pick up with his fists. Like rice. Its not a big issue - just I have to microwave him a jacket spud if we're eating rice. Perhaps I'll just wait (my policy with most things!).
