am I feeding my baby too much?

My baby boy is 7 months old and eats three big meals a day (e.g. a banana and some apple for breakfast/lunch is spaghetti bolognaise/dinner is fish pie). Over the day he also drinks about 900mls of milk and a little water. He is a big fella, and chubby, but happy and I never force him to eat anything or push him to drink more milk. Am I feeing him too much? Do I need to cut down on milk?

This is always such a tricky question! How do you think he would react if you cut down his milk - would he be bothered? The recommendation is to have 500-600ml of milk a day (more is better than less), so he does have scope to have less, but if he would be unhappy or just eat masses more solids instead then I probably wouldn't recommend it.

I'm not sure, I might try to give him less milk. Sometimes though he just drains the bottle in one go, and I figure he must need it if he's that desperate to drink it. I'll give it a go and see what happens

Why do you want to cut down on his milk? He is eating as much as my ds was at that age. He used to eat 1 weetabix and one pot of fruit puree for breakfast, 4 oz of protein type food plus 2 kinds of fruit for lunch and 8 oz of veg plus a small fromage frais for supper. No snacks in between and close to 700ml of milk a day.

He was chubby too, until he started crawling all over the house, within a few weeks he dropped his fat and started looking lean.

Please do not try and calorie count for the lo unless you were advised by a health professional.

HTH

FunkyDude is nearly 12 months and still eats a lot and is by no means fat or even chubby!
