Can I just wait until DS can sit up?

DS3 was 6 months on April 20th and he's not really been that interested in food yet. He's not really watching me eat or smacking his lips in the way my older ones did.

He's pretty small (9th centile) and nowhere near sitting up yet. He'd be drowned in a highchair and very floppy. He has 2 bottom teeth and top ones on their way.

I may be biased because I hate weaning, but I just don't want to start him on solids yet. WIBU to wait until he is sitting up?

Ds1 and 2 sat up at 7 and 9 months so it could be a while if he's like them!

I would definitely wait till he can sit upright. If he would be flopping over in his high chair then the choking risk would be much higher if you tried to feed him. Sitting completely unsupported isn't necessary though, so if he can sit upright with a bit of help from his highchair or on your lap, that's fine.

So I would wait till he can sit upright then just try and see how you get on. In a couple of weeks, things may be very different and he may be interested in food then.

What high chair have you got? DD2 is floppy in all the highchairs in restaurants but upright in the ikea antilop. She's 33 weeks and still not sitting unaided.

And she's smaller as she's the on 4th centile for a girl.

It's absolutely ok to not wean spot on six months. My son just wasn't interested until around 9 months so milk was his primary source until he was about one year.

He grazed a lot.

YY to antilop. DD can sit unaided but is teeny, but it has an inflated insert which helps!
This thread is v reassuring. .. started weaning at 6 months and she just "picks" and very much prefers milk. Sounds like this is ok! She has haliborange drops so getting her vitamin D.

I haven't got a highchair yet as have a small flat with nowhere to store it so was going to get one after he grew out of Moses basket. But on 9th centile, I've really got my money's worth! I think I'll go for the Antilop though, never heard a bad word said against it!

Anyone tried the Ikea Leopard? Quite liked the look of that too!
