You can make great salt-free gravy with the juices/sticky bits/fat left in the tin after a roast. You can make your own salt-free stock or use veg cooking water if you've not added salt to it. Basically add a little water into the hot tin, scrape with a spatula to get as much of the bits as possible, then add some of the stock and let it bubble until thickened. You can do the same with a pan where you browned the meat. Alternatively, if you search for recipes for make-ahead gravy you could easily make a batch and freeze it.

Supermarket pouches of ready made stock are sometimes salt-free, check the label - expensive but again you can freeze any excess for future meals.

Sorry to lower the tone but me and a few other mums got the giggles in our weaning workshop when the HV talked about getting baby gravy from boots as it also has another meaning!

For cottage pie I fry off mince, onion and grated carrot then sprinkle 2 tbsp of flour over mince and stir. Add lo salt beef stock, tbsp red wine vinegar, 2tbsp Tom purée and some herbs and pepper. Flour plus fat plus stock = gravy.

Oh and a squirt of HP sauce or dash of Worcestershire if it's still a bit 'meh'

Yes I too thought this would be a ruder thread

I make gravy from scratch using no salt and freeze it into cubes. Then just defrost in microwave to drizzle over potato and veg. I use my nana's liver and onion recipe and it's lip smackingly good!
