Milk on cereal for seven month old

Someone told me on Friday that if I want to put whole milk instead of formula in ds' redibrek I have to boil the milk first. Why? Surely it has been pasteurised at super high temp already. Am confused as I thought that as long as it isn't his main drink it was ok for him to have it. He's already had milk in the cheese sauce I make so I know he's not intolerant.

It's the first time I've heard of that.I don't thinkyou need to. Ds has been having wholemilk on his cereal for months, and I've never boiled it.Don't knowanyone else who does either.

6 months is fine to give cows milk on food.....no boiling required.....would probably kill the goodness in the milk! he can have it, not as his main drink until 12 months..but fine in cooking!

you can give babies over 6 months cow's milk as their main drink too. they just say 12 months because of allergies but if there is no family history of a milk allergy you'll be fine any time after 6 months. look

erm...that link also says can wean from 4 months...so i'm not 100 % sure about it being totally up to date?

Apparantly, according to HV, cows milk (full fat) can be digested with food, but, not alone.

oops sorry i didn't read the whole page was just browsing ..!

Thank you. I thought it would be ok, seemed bizarre to boil it. Mind you after one successful redibrek morning, he now is rejecting it. Seems to only want fruit in the morning so perhaps I should stop trying to stuff cereal based things down him and stick to the good old fashioned banana!
