Don't know where to start - it's all gone wrong!

DS is 8.5 mo and we have been doing mainly blw, but sometimes spoon feeding stuff like weetabix, fish pie etc.

It was going reasonably well until a couple of weeks ago.

DS was ebf until 6 months, then 1 bottle of formula at bedtime until 8 months, now we do 3 x 7oz bottles of formula during the day and I just bf for night wakings.

But since he's been having formula, his appetite for milk has increased, but his appetite for solids has decreased. He doesn't seem bothered much, apart from yogurts which he adores.

I feel like it's going backwards and I think the switch to formula is to blame.

He has also had quite a few illnesses since he's been having formula, when he had only ever had maybe one cold before 6 months. He seems to constantly have a runny nose and cough, yesterday he had a fever all day, a couple of weeks ago he had d & v.

I feel like I've broken him by making the switch to formula! Is this normal? Should I have waited until he was fully weaned?

To give some context, the reason I've stopped breastfeeding are he's started biting now he has a few teeth, he wasn't really feeding very well, more snacking throughout the day but really fussing on and off, and I don't think he was taking enough milk as he was starting to wake more frequently during the night and having big feeds.

Do I need to drop any bottles to encourage more solids? I feel like I haven't got a clue what I'm doing now!

With regards to the illness - my dd has been like this recently and she is bf. As have several children I know.
I think it's more that there are some bugs going round!!

Also as a result she's been off solid food quite a bit. It could be a sore throat for example.

Hi, you haven't broken him. The switch to formula has coincided with him getting sick, he hasn't gotten sick because you've changed to formula. It is much more likely that him being ill is what's putting him off food. Keep offering but try not to worry. He's getting all he needs from milk. His appetite will pick up again.

It is also quite common for babies to have periods where they are disinterested in food, with BLW anyway. Totally normal
