Which bottle should I drop first?

DS has formula early morning, mid morning. Early afternoon, late afternoon and before bed. As well as 3 solid meals a day - breakfast, lunch and dinner. Which bottle should I drop first and when?

How old is he and roughly how much formula is he having in a day? Smile

moomin35 · 26/03/2015 20:37

He's 9 months. 5 bottles a day of 6oz but he doesn't take all of it

The first one of ours that went was mid morning. Next was mid afternoon.

I think it is less confusing to switch immediately to some form of cup - why do you need to continue with a bottle? Confused.

moomin35 · 26/03/2015 22:43

Sorry ragwort I don't get your comment? He's on a cup at times, I'll be workinb him off the physical bottle - if that makes sense from one year old but I'm talking about dropping feeds

I don't understand why you would give your baby an actual bottle for his feed if he can use a cup? Genuine question, not wanting to sound sarky.

He can then have his 'feeds' as in mid morning/afternoon drinks in a cup surely? IYSWIM Grin

From memory, as my DS is now a teenager, he would have three meals a day plus a couple of drinks - I avoided the bedtime drink as I think it can be quite a hard habit to get out of and the teeth brushing issue concerned me.

Also I had a friend who's school age children still had a bottle at bed time - yes, I do think that is very odd. No SN.

He's only 9 months old so having a bottle is not an issue. They can be phased out around age 1 so no rush to stop them just yet.

dementedpixie · 27/03/2015 07:24

Also they tend to take less from a cup so giving a bottle ensures they still take plants milk

dementedpixie · 27/03/2015 07:24

Plenty, not plants (stupid iPad!)

My 8 month old has a bottle first thing, 1400 ish and around 1830-1900, we are BLW and he takes anywhere between 5-8oz per feed. We dropped mid morning first

ohdearitshappeningtome · 27/03/2015 07:29

My ds 11months dropped his feeds himself. He now takes 2/3 depending on his mood between 4/6oz! He can drink small amounts from a cup

He cannot drink from a beaker as he cant breathe at the same time.

When I say "bottle" I'm referring to a formula milk feed not the way he has it. So my question is "when should he drop his formula milk feed", what he drinks it out of is not relevant!
