How long to get going with BLW?

Dd is 25 weeks now so will be weaning very soon. I was keen to do BLW with her but I was wondering how long it took for them to actually start eating rather than just playing with the food and dropping it. Dd puts her toys to her mouth and attempts to chew them but then quickly drops them. Will it be the same with food?

DS swallowed 1st time. He doesnt really eat though yet... unless its toast! We've been at it 4 weeks. He bites and chews and sucks though.

it just depends on the baby. my dd yanked the food out of our hands, but some babies don't take to it. if you think about it, the 6 months thing is very arbitrary, we don't expect all babies to start walking on their 1st birthday so if you can take the same approach to weaning you'll save yourself a lot of stress.

By the way, the first things dd ate were in our hands, with her sitting on our lap and grabbing our wrists to bring the food closer. you could try that first.
