Hi there. This is the first time I have posted a message - hope you can help!

My son is 6 months old and until the other day had weaned like a dream, eating everything I have given him. Then on Thus, I gave him chicken for the first time and although he wasn't that keen, he did eat it. The next day when I tried to give it again, he completely refused and has since refused to eat anything but baby rice and porridge. I don't think it is teething as he is not grizzly and will eat the rice fine but as soon as I mix with things he used to like, he just starts crying!

first advece, change your name
on the food thing, naybe he just didn't like it, try him occasionally and he may try it again, don't worry about it though

This isn't really anything to worry about, verylongname.

Just forget about the things he doesn't like for the moment and continue with the rice and porridge.

Then start BLW

Exactly the same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I think chicken must have a really strong flavour as he rejected three different recipes with chicken and then started turning down fish pie which he had loved before.

I went back to basics as I thought maybe I was introducing too many things too fast and it worked really well. Try reintroducing fruit as they all seem to love sweet things.

A few weeks on and things are going well, he even chomps down tins of baby food now which I introduced on holiday.

Oh and someone on the thread gave me a great tip which is to give him a baby rice cake or piece of bread to play with. It seems to distract them and then you can shovel some in, worked for us.

I think this must be quite common as all my nct group found that after 3/4 weeks of successful weaning babies went off food. In ds' case I think it was because of the teeth that appeared a week after he went back onto food so I've assumed he was having trouble with the teeth moving around in his gum. I went right back to basics, offered just one ice cube of things like sweet potato and pear at a time and now he's eating with gusto again. I also find giving him washable toys to play with while he's eating or finger foods like rice cakes works well to get him to eat more and enjoy the whole experience more. He particularly likes licking puree off his stackable cups!!
