DD (13 mo) suddenly gagging on food and refusing most things

Not sure if this is the right area for this post but I'm really struggling with my DD.

She will hardly eat anything as seems to feel strange on her tongue - for example spaghetti bolognase which is a firm favourite, the mince and pasta bits upset her and she ends up scraping them off her tongue and refusing to eat any more of it.

Porridge had been ok but today that's a no go too and got spat out.

She is also gagging and projectile vomiting on food for no particular reason... She isn't unwell with any of this.

Previously she was an amazing eater and would pretty much eat anything and everything!!

She is getting her canines if this affects it at all??

I seem to remember a similar episode when she was a lot younger which was possibly around teething.

One thing I don't understand is that a slice of toast or a potato waffle/smiley face is no problem at all???

I'd really appreciate any help or advice or even just some reassurance!!!

Thanks

Sounds like it could well be teething. Try her with ibuprofen about half an hour before Her main meal and dentinox teething gel just before. She might also like to chew on some cool cucumber or even a frozen banana.

Appetites do slow down after the first year and this seems like a temporary blip so try not to worry too much Smile

Did you try any of the things I suggested Lime?

LimesMum · 21/03/2015 05:58

Yes, thanks jiltedjohns have given them a go but sadly things are worse not better!! She is living off yoghurt and fruit pouches!! She just seems unable to tolerate anything more than that on her tongue, oh apart from baby biscuits..... I'm hoping it's to do with teething which she is really struggling with at the moment.

I'm just worried she hasn't really eaten much in over a week now.

Thanks so much for your help.

Is she drinking enough? If so, I wouldn't worry too much about her food intake.

LimesMum · 21/03/2015 16:00

She is drinking a reasonable amount of water.

She is also sleeping loads in the day which is very unlike her!!!

Are you really sure her throat and ears are clear?

LimesMum · 21/03/2015 17:51

Been to the gp 4 times and they tell me so?!!
