Introducing beef?

When is it ok to introduce beef? DD2 is almost 7 months and I was planning to introduce her to Cottage Pie today. Annabel Karmel and another (can't mention name) author recommend 9 months. Why? Am I fussing too much - hope so, just getting the stuff assembled now!

Thanks in advance,

I was under the impression that red meat was OK from about 7 months - and I've got the AK book too.

meat is an excellent first food - seriously...
chicken is good
I personally didn't give red meat till about ten months (BLW) but it has plenty of iron in it

I gave it to ds at around 7 months and he hasn't suffered any noticeable side effects...

there's actually some research that suggests that because of our hunter/gatherer ancient ancestry we should start meat before cereals. gabrielle someone, she wrote the politics of breastfeeding.
dd (10months BLW) loves casseroled meat in particular, and the other day ate all of the meat off the legs of a roast chicken. Steak is less appealing, griddled pork a hit but chicken is definitely the favourite.

yes dd2 gnawed her way through a big lump of steak from a steak pie in a restaurant yesterday
she is nearly a year and meat is certainly her favourite thing
