My 1 yr old has only had vegetables in other things eg spinach/brocolli pureed into cheese sauce on pasta. She has never chosen to eat vegetables (she refused all solids until we introduced bread at 8 months) and will refuse unless it is pureed and given with a carbohydrate ie pureed on toast or in a pasta sauce.
She also refuses most fruits (has eaten mango and then peach in the past but not atm, and has always refused all others).
She feeds herself (with fingers) and always has done (feeding issues due to reflux). I can understand why she might refuse fruit as the acid in many can make reflux worse but not the veg. I just tried a meal without her usual carbohydrates - veg in a cheese sauce but she's not having it.
I can only assume its a texture thing? My question is should i carry on giving veg to her hidden in sauces and on toast etc and not worry too much about the fact that she wont eat it 'whole' at the moment or does anyone have any other suggestions as to how to make it more appetising for her?
sorry of long post but its a bit of an issue esp as we are vegetarian!
thanks
