what to do with fish?

My LO is just under 6m and I started weaning (just a bit of baby rice) at 4.5. She's built up very slowly to 1 or 2 meals of pureed veg mixed with (breast or formula) milk.

Went to the HV and have been advised to start bringing protein in - LO's weight gain is a bit slow so she is steadily dropping on the centile chart so although she's not yet underweight she seems to need more. They recommended chicken or fish.

So now I have a haddock fillet in front of me.... whats the best way to prepare it? Oven bake (with ours) then puree it with milk like I do with her veg? Or should mashing it with a fork be OK? Or is it soft enough to just pop it in front of her and let her take it herself? I'll be very careful that it doesn't have bones.

I should have thought about this earlier in the day!!

Thanks!

Steam and mash with the milk and veg .

As its a new taste it might be accepted better. You can flake a few bits as well if she is into blw or she likes feeling the food.

I used to poach it in milk, you can then just mash as it is.

Poach in milk and blend. I just tried my ds with poached cod and parsley sauce and he liked it.

Thanks all. I went with the steaming as I'm avoiding cows milk until she's 6 months. I guess I could maybe have poached it in breast milk but that just seems weird (is it weird? does anyone do that?)

She loved it :-).
