stock cubes

I'm finding it hard going making stock for home made meals. I know Kallo and Marigold do low salt cubes. Does anyone know if they're still too salty?
Cheers

Hi Puffling. I dont know about the Marigold ones but the Kallo Low salt ones are OK. The label says it contains only Trace of sodium which is fine. They have no added salt at all which is the main ingredient in all other stock cubes. I am using these to make stock for my ds and use them for my own low sodium diet.

I make my own chicken stock, but could do with some low salt beef cubes. Cliffy - as you have some Kallo ones, could you check and see if they contain any milk for me please, as I'd hate to try and track down where to buy them only to find that DD can't have them anyway (she's milk intolerant).

Oh, and if there isn't any milk in them, can you tell me where you get them from please?

You can get fresh organic no salt chicken stock from joubere, in waitrose, though it is expensive (but i water it down to make it go further) and quite often i don't bother with chicken stock at all - just use the water from the vegetables. seems to go down with them just as well.

Thanks Gloworm. They are suitable, but sadly it looks like they don't do a low salt beef one. I use vecon if I want a veg stock, which I'm pretty sure is low/free from salt.
