How to stop last couple of bf for 22mo

Hi all,

I would like some advice as to how to drop the last couple of feeds for my 22mo DS.

He has never been the best sleeper in the world and up until about 4 months ago he was getting bf before bed plus any time he woke up during the night (anywhere between 1 and 3 times) and then first thing in the morning. One evening he suddenly refused his usual pre-bed feed which was a godsend as his sleep dramatically improved after that and we went from waking 1-3 times a night to waking 1-3 times a week. However I was still feeding him if he did wake up during the night and also he had a longish feed first thing in the morning.

Recently he's started waking up again at least once a night so whilst the morning feeds have become shorter and it's easier to distract him with a bottle of milk I do need to stop the night-time feeds which I think are mostly for comfort rather than hunger. If I do try just to hold him and cuddle him or give him a bottle instead he just wriggles in my arms to try and get to my boobs instead!

Any suggestions as to how to do this? Ideally I'd like to avoid the screaming fits that I think are inevitable but I do accept there will be some upset.

Any advice gratefully received :-)
