Diarrhoea on weaning

DS1 is nearly 7 months. We started weaning just after 5 months old, fruit and veg initially, then once he reached six months, wheat (pasta, bread), dairy, and a bit of protein (bolognese a couple of times, chicken once fish once, egg once and lentils a couple of times).

Last five days he has had diarrhoea. He's not unwell, no fever or vomiting and happy in himself but a soon as he is fed ( breast milk or solids) he seems to get tummy cramps, then moves his bowels. We're getting about 6 motions a day and it's just like what he's eaten. I Don't think its infective diarrhoea- I wonder about food intolerance

Has anyone else experienced this? Should I be trying to cut out food groups? How long do you need to exclude something for to rule it in/out? I think I'll probably give it til after Christmas and make a decision then. Advice gratefully received.....

Would it not be worth a trip to the doctors rather than trying to work it out yourself? It sounds quite extreme for food to be going through him at that rate.

My DS did get diarrhoea as we started weaning - one memorable day he went 8 times! However I think it only lasted about a week so if it goes on longer than that I would think about seeing a doctor just to be on the safe side. Especially if it seems to be bothering him at all.

Stop solids and see if that helps?at this age food is for fun....

Thanks for the advice- so we still have diarrhoea after 12 days, and after discussions with GP/ HV have agreed to try a cows milk free diet. We have been prescribed an extensively hydrolysed formula to replace cows milkin the diet and I will continue breast feeding and cut my own milk intake (I mostly have soya milk anyway which is why I think we haven't seen this problem until weaning). So the next question is what tips do you have for avoiding cows milk when weaning. For example what can you put on toast/ bread, are there alternatives to yoghurts etc? Thanks in advance....
