9 mth old wont eat.

My DD is 9 months old and just doesnt seem to want to eat. She has never been a big eater but she hasnt eaten much yesterday and nothing today. She is still Bfeeding but I am starting to worry. She will however eat sweet things like yoghurts and jars of baby food puddings. Any suggestions as I am getting desperate.

Have you tried her with finger foods?

it is not uncommon for babies of this e not to eat very much food. my baby didn't start eating anything substantial until past 9 months. she is getting plenty of nutrition from milk.
finger foods is a great idea.
or just let her eat anything with her hands.
is she gorwing well? is she lively?

i only know about finger foods, because i am doing Baby Led Weaning, but i do know that left to their own devices a lot of babies don't want to eat a great deal until 12 months... around the time when milk is no longer sufficient to give them their vits etc. Their bodies are such clever things.
so as i've said before, i reckon that gives us a whole six months before worrying, in your case you've got three left (me too!)
like harpsichordcarrion (ppppft! ) says, is she growing well, is she happy, are you okay with her development, if not her appetite? if so, don't sweat it is my advice, and see if she likes finger food in the meantime.

I second what harpsi says.

My DS was the same. Wasnt at all interested in anything up until about 10 or 11 months. In fact, he only started having regular food after 12 months. (Although he would eat paper like nobody's business, and anything off of the floor that he shouldnt). In fact, I think a few times i actually deliberately placed food at floor level to entice him. It worked too!

He eats really quite well now, but, I worry less, and to be honest, i dont pay so much attention to it anyway now. I know he is thriving and that is good enough for me.

Your DD is getting plenty of nutrition from your milk, try and relax. And ignore those around you who like to tell you how fabulously their LO is at eating. Its really quite meaningless at this age.

dont worry! i know its hard not to, but i was pretty much still exclusively bfing my ds until he was 13 months old! he never ate regularly until that age. my hv was sick to death (although she would never admit it - lovely woman) of me calling her worrying that my ds wouldnt get enough nutrients etc. even now at 21 months he still doesnt eat much, and sometimes skips whole meals (even though i offer him food loads througout the day) but i know he'll never starve as long as im bfing him. btw, my ds is very healthy, never been ill (bar a couple of colds when he was a baby), stocky and cheeky and a typical toddler!

oh forgot to say, some recent research shows that babies who refuse foods could be refusing them due to an allergy or intolerance to those foods, and when they start eating them eventually, its when their immune systems have got over it and they are fine to eat it again. so maybe your ds is not eating for the good of his health!
