Don't think so, but I bet you can't get her to eat a grapefruit or a lemon!

belgianBONES · 05/10/2006 09:59

Isn't kiwi one to avoid cos of allergies?

aDAdOnMumsnet · 05/10/2006 10:00

I think that's right about the kiwi - it is an allergen.

LynnC · 05/10/2006 10:00

mmmmm might be worth a try aDadOnMumsnet

Just a quick one - my dd has eaten grapefriut since she was about 20 months! Try it - you never know....

aDAdOnMumsnet · 05/10/2006 10:05

I'm impressed silverfrog, it took me about 25 years to come round to it! Now I'm practically addicted to grapefruit juice.

CastsSpellsWitchySpells · 05/10/2006 10:07

My DD had kiwi at 6 months! Surprised to hear that some of you think it's one to avoid.

aDAdOnMumsnet · 05/10/2006 10:17

Kiwis can cause reactions almost as bad as with peanuts I think, but unlike with peanuts, it's not been recommended to avoid giving them to your child, but just to be careful.

alexsCURSEDMUMMY · 05/10/2006 10:19

chop grapes in half if you are going to give them.

TwigTwoolett · 05/10/2006 10:20

why do you have that kind of capitalisation in your name aDAdOnMumsnet?

SSSandy · 05/10/2006 10:21

Dd came out in a rash after kiwifruit, oranges, strawberries.

aDAdOnMumsnet · 05/10/2006 10:22

twiglett - it would make more sense if my name was DOM... it's not though. Don't know really, thought it helped each word stand out a bit more. Bit of a silly name that I didn't think long and hard about, but have kept...

melrose · 05/10/2006 10:26

My Ds has eaten virtually all fruit since 12 months! Kiwi can cause allergies (a friends child reacted badly) but if your dd does not suffer from any other allergies at this stage she should be fine. My DS, now 2.4, will eat virtually all fruit goinga nd would live on it if given the chance. Agree about cutting up grapes when they are little (and orage segments)but have not bothered for the last 6 months or so as he has lots of teeth and chews really well.

TwigTwoolett · 05/10/2006 10:45

no would make sense if your name was DAOM

I keep wanting you to change it to aDADonMumset but don't think that works any better

lucy5 · 05/10/2006 10:48

Mango used to make my dd go hyper but I've never heard anyone else having the same problem.

aDAdOnMumsnet · 05/10/2006 10:51

do you know that is the first time I've noticed that the A is capitalised! Told you I didn't give it much thought!

(anyway, back to fruit - sorry!)

aDAdOnMumsnet · 05/10/2006 10:54

Actually mango maybe has that effect on my dd too - could it be that it is that much sweeter than other fruits when ripe?

Maybe we need to come up with an expression for what happens when you have too much mango, like "she's gone mango-agogo" or something.
