HELP! My 9 month old won't eat...

I am desperate for some suggestions please. DD was a star with all her food, still is but DS has just stopped in the last week or so. He loves his milk in the morning and of course his weetabix but then we grind to a halt...He loves bananas and any dessert but am keen not to go down the route of giving in to just giving him anything so I feel better he has had something.... Is that bad? Where am I going wrong? Seems much harder this time round, either that or my brain has completly withered and I have forgotten what I used to do for DD... (blush)
Please help!DD (aged 2 1/2) is now beginning to think she can skip meals because DS is.... We tend to eat healthily and prefer to eat most meals together! Suggestions and / or recipes urgently required!!!

Thank you kind mummies x x

Try him with some eggy bread if he can finger feed himself - or mashed potato with cheese & sweetcorn in cos he'll be getting some calcium, veggies & carbs

Yeah mashed potato as a base is always a good one, add a little chicken or beef , broccoli, carrots etc you could also add some grated cheese, cream or unsalted butter.

ledodgywizardrobespierre · 03/10/2006 13:29

banana mashed on toast is a good finger food too.

Try cooking veggies, mashing, maybe adding some rice or other cooked grains, shape into little patties or sausage shapes and fry or grill. Add a bit of flour if necessary, gram or soya flour will add protein.

What lovely ladies - thank for all your suggestions. It was my first real posting on the web so thanks again for the prompt replies. I think we overdid the carrot mash, sweet potato, and courgette type mashes when he was first weaning so any sign of anything orange or potato like he immediatly refuses - what memory!!
Supper worked well last night without any sign of tears and that was just me! (only kidding!) Have just returned form the local organic farm shop where DS loved helping me chose some of the suggestions on the list. DS loves finger food also so actually looking forward to using the ideas and also to lunch!

Many thanks again everyone - hope you didn't think I was too blonde by asking for some help!! x x

Hi
Have you tried scrambled eggs ??? Add a little cooked ham and really finely chopped tomatos and if that goes down well start adding a few extras - maybe finely chopped spring onions, a bit of balsamic vinegar when cooking off the eggs etc?
Good luck and persevere !!!

Bunjamin · 06/10/2006 14:02

Thank you for this Chippyt. Tried scrambled eggs last night and he loved it!! Have always been put off doing them as DD has always refused eggs but even managed to get her to have some too!! (I would like what he is having!!)
Did a cauliflower cheese on Wednesday with onions, mushrooms and chopped bacon added in - it went down a storm! Mealtimes have been so much better of late so thank you everyone! You have given me lots of inspiration and now feel so much better! Thanks x x
