Meals taking ages?

I have mostly spoon fed my 11 month DD but she is increasingly wanting to feed herself but I'm finding this takes ages! Is this normal? E.g. takes her over an hour to finish a small lunch. Will she become quicker the more she gets used to it or maybe she's just a naturally slow eater? I don't mind so much but it's hard to plan to go out after lunch because I never know when she'll be finished!

I think she will speed up. However I don't think it's that bad tbh. An average mealtime here takes 45min -1hr even if just adults. It's a time to catch up, eat etc so I don't think it needs to be so rushed

I would just not plan anything until later than you currently are to allow for it.

I too am having a nightmare of 8 month baby DD who won't spoon feed, takes forever (hour and a half!) over lunch, then still hungry and wants a veggy pouch... I have a toddler - it's totally impractical! Don't know what to do...
