Not sleeping so well at night since weaning

My lo is 24 weeks old and I have been weaning about 2 weeks, I give her solids at about 10-11 am, the first week was baby rice and she slept through the night as usual, she had sweet potato and she continued to sleep as usual. She has had carrot for three days now and is not sleeping well at night, she is going to bed and then waking me an hour or so later screaming and is also waking in the night and earlier in the mornings. Could it have been the carrot giving her stomach ache or just a coincidence? Any ideas? I tried calgel last night in case of teeth but no luck, she had some milk in the end but I don't want to encourage this in the night again. Thanks!

might be the carrots - try something differnt today and see how she goes - i've worked out Joey can't have weetabix cos he does the exact same thing wakes up screaming but without it he sleeps thru (just wakes early) either that or try a v v tiny amount of milk to it to waster it down a little to see if that has any differnce, but tbh I think i'd steer clear of the carrots for a short time to see how she goes. could try swede perhaps, or a little squash if you're looking for something differnt.

As the gut gets used to food, I think it can irritate them slightly - I remember ds was the same with certain foods when I started weaning him. I would go back to the sweet potato just now, or try something else for a bit. With ds he couldn't tolerate things like peach, orange, melon etc until quite recently (he is 14m),but different babies react to different things

my dd was like this for a few weeks. it's settled down now (well for the last few days!), but try not giving her carrot today and see if that makes a difference.

We have tried apple today so fingers crossed, also increased her milk by an oz to see if that helps. I guess I will know if its the carrot in the morning depending on whether I actually get some sleep tonight!

Exact same thing happened with ds - gave him carrots for a few days and his sleeping pattern deteriorated. Stopped weaning and he is now sleeping through. He was only 19 weeks when we began to wean and only did it for a week. HTH X

No carrot and a good nights sleep,we think she was lying there realising she could see in the dark!! She had really awful wind from the apple to the extent it made her scream, gonna stick to the baby rice for a few days I think.

It might be that she is still hungry - I give carrots with a little babyrice and milk to bulk it out a bit as there isn't many calories in a bit of carrot.

We have stopped with the weaning for now as she seems to have an upset stomach, I hope once she is over this that the weaning will go a little better although I do think carrot just doesn't suit her at the moment.
