Reducing Formula at 10 Months

Hi all, DS is a big healthy baby and has taken to food really well- he eats 3 meals a day and has pretty much everything (apart from tuna fish- big disaster!) and can take water well from sippy cup. My HV told me a couple of months back to drop a daytime formula feed as the aim was to have him off formula completely at 12 months. I did this fine and he now takes 7oz in the morning when he wakes and 6oz in the evening before he goes to sleep. I am now wondering if I should drop another bottle and just give him one FF a day? If so, which one should I keep for now? He is so used to the routine I dont know how well it would go down with him!!

I would keep both milk feeds tbh. They still need around 20oz until 1 year. You could move to a cup nearer the age of 1 and then switch to cows milk at age 1. I woukd still give milk twice a day though.

Milk is meant to be their main form of nutrients until 12m

I wouldnt be dropping feeds if he's only on two, that's not enough.

Well I was advised to because he eats so well and is in the 98th centile!! Honestly, he loved food so much that it mainly came from him.. but maybe I will keep both bottles for now then..

They are supposed to have a specified amount of milk so if you drop another feed then he will not be having that amount any more (he doesn't sound like he is taking the recommended minimum at the moment either)

I've just googled and you're all right- but surely it would be pointless to reinstate a bottle he is perfectly happy without for the sake of 7 weeks? If I did bring back a third bottle then what should I do re:food? Reduce his solids? He is on 3 good sized meals a day. When he was on three bottles a day he was really very chunky (thats an understatement by the way!) and HV was worried he was heading off the centile scale (he isnt crawling yet so doesnt have many ways to burn it all off!)

I just upped the low cal foods like veg and some fruit, but I also only gave two bottles at 10 month's as he just stopped taking the daytime bottle. Ds is 13 months now and is dropping his morning milk but taking it on cereal /porridge (remember dairy counts over 1yr).
