Started to wean ds as he was waking in the night - mistakingly thought weaning him would help him sleep through (you'd think i'd know better!!) - but can i now delay weaning until later or do i have to continue with it now i;ve started?

TIA X

am sure it isnt a problem to stop - h ow long had you been giving him solids for?

mrsflowerpot · 25/09/2006 14:35

If you have only just started and haven't cut down how much milk he's getting I wouldn't have thought he'll notice, but am no expert. (Anecdotally, though, I started to wean dd at 6 months, then she got a series of stinking colds which lasted ages and we were going nowhere with the solids, so we stopped again until she was gone 7 months and all better. She was entirely unpeturbed by that.)

Would n't have thought there would be any problem delaying . May need an extra milk feed instead.

i started and stopped with the dts, didn't do them any harm. i thought the same as you, but it didnt help and they were not that interested, so just upped the milk again.

have been weaning on rice for just over a week - so not very long.

should be fine then

mrsflowerpot · 25/09/2006 14:39

If it's just baby rice then he'll probably be glad if you stop . I would go for it personally, just up the milk if you think he's getting hungrier.

Mandymoo · 27/09/2006 09:49

well, i stopped the weaning and he has slept brilliantly the last 2 nights (only stirring but going back to sleep when dummy shoved back in)

Will now wait until suggested 6 months before trying again i think
