breakfast ideas for 6 - 7 month old please!

Think I'm feeding her weetabix too often so need some new ideas. I do give her porridge as well sometimes. All I can think of is banana. She has toast quite often for lunch. Any ideas welcome

Well I would stick with porridge because it is very healthy, delicious and cheap. You can add interest with stewed or fresh fruit or dried fruit.
Plain yoghurt with fruit?
Eggs? Scrambled, boiled, poached.
Beans on toast?

My DD tends to have the same breakfast most days but personally I'm not that bothered if it doesn't vary - lets face it how often does your own breakfast vary? Saying that I do give her different things occasionally like scrambled eggs, yoghurt with fruit that I will mash into it, however most days she has porrige cause she LOVES it. I have tried her on 'adult' porrige and have blended the oats a little but she really loves the Aptamil creamy porrige. So we give her that but I will mash in a few chunks of banana. She also loves apricot porrige too so can definitely recommend keeping some dried apricots at home (they work really well in lunches and dinner too as gives a lovely sweet taste to her food).

Dippy eggs
Scrambled eggs (none of which my baby will eat as she doesn't like eggs!)
Pancakes
Bagels

Toast
Weetabix
Porridge
Fruit
Yoghurt are what's given mostly round here. Boring but happily devoured!

Thank you. I will give porridge more often I think rather than weetabix. I've got ready break because I thought she'd be better starting on smooth porridge but the hv told me today that lumpy porridge is fine if she is used to lumps in her other food now which she is. I have plain yoghurt so that's a good idea and maybe we can do eggs or beans etc one day a week.

I just think I've been overdoing the weetabix I know it's quite healthy as cereal goes but it does still have some sugar and salt in it.

Bagels is a great idea. What are people's thoughts on crumpets?
How much bread do your babies eat as mine loves toast or bread but not sure how much she should have ie if you give toast for breakfast do you avoid any more for the rest of the day?

Mine slightly older but loved then ( and still do)

• boiled egg with avocado
• porridge with fruit
• fruit and yogurt
• pancakes ( I make wholemeal, with egg, milk and ground nuts)
• omelettes ( mushroom / ham/ cheese
• poached egg, beans, mushrooms and spinach

Have you tried making porridge fingers? Basically really thick porridge which you can cut into fingers for DS to hold in his hand and eat? DD used to love those...

No I haven't how do you do that is it just oats with hardly any milk at all?

Sorry, bit late. Yes, I just used to add less milk and then stir, microwave and cut - very quick breakfast. There is a 'recipe' in the baby led weaning cookbook with exact quantities, don't have it to hand but it's very simple: as long as it's really quite thick it'll be fine!

I was coming on to say porridge fingers! My DD loved them. They're nice with grated apple and raisins mixed in too.
