Highchair choice

Hi all

Just wondered if anyone had highchair suggestions? We have inadvertently started weaning- cucumber and carrot sticks to keep her occupied during our mealtimes. Saw health visitor today who agrees that yes we've started. So now I need a high chair!! I was going I shop around in a few weeks time but now I feel I need to get a move on. I need something that folds as flat as possible and has a nice big tray for BlW :-)

ah, I was going to say the Ikea one but it doesn't fold flat.

ikea one pushed up to the table (without tray) BLW all about them joining in at meal times and being at the table with you but doesn't fold! But it is very cheap.

Depends on your budget. I used an ikea one as it had a small foot print. Had originally borrowed a fold away one and it was a nightmare. Felt like I was forever putting it away getting it out and tripping on it. Ds was pushed right up to the table. £15 and it has been used for two dc. Dc2 is now in a booster seat at 15 months.

The trip trapp would have been my preferred high chair.

Whatever you choose, check that the back is completely upright. My mil bought a folding one and ds had to be leaning back to have the harness fitted. It used to make him really angry and I decided it was a choking hazard. (Yes he was my pfb)

Just on a separate note. Why do they create these highchairs with a recline option. Do kids that sleep in their highchairs really exist?

I was considering a prima papa actually. My only hesitancy is that my DD is quite petite and I'm not sure if she'd be a little but small for it,.,,

Curiously apparently it's for parents to have the baby in when it's tiny at the table with them. I didn't use it til weaning so can't comment on that! It's good though, plastic thing between legs so she can't slip out, not too many nooks and crannies like other padded ones so really easy to clean with a dettol wipe. only thing that annoys me is that the straps don't come off to wash you have to try and wash them while they're on still.

That would be handy. I forget not everyone has Velcro babies

Yes we had a bloom highchair that reclined with a cocoon in it to make a fab 'high crib'.

Wouldn't be what you are looking for as very heavy and doesn't fold flat....

We have a mamas and papas Pixi, it looks nice and folds really flat, we keep it behind the door.

This is fab. Small and folds up really small and easy too keep clean as no fabric.

Yes, babies do suddenly zonk in high chairs! Our baby has fallen asleep with food halfway to his face. This is one of the reasons I like our reclining chair: I also liked that I could put him in it before he could sit up (he didn't like his bouncy chair after about 3 months) and it makes it really easy to slip him in and out. We've got a Joie snacker mostly because of owls. It folds quite small and has a net for storing millions of bibs and flannels. Incidentally, you don't want the tray too big or your baby will lose food!
